Mayor’s Making Flowers 2014

This time last year I provided the flowers for Mayor’s Making at The Double Tree by Hilton. I dis so again this year, but more on that at a later date.

The council colours are cream and green and I am asked to stick to these colours where I can but I am given free reign on the flowers used as long as I keep to budget.

I provide 2 presentation bouquets to give to the Mayor’s and Sheriff’s ladies at the ceremony.

On this occasion I used cream proteas, astrantia and stallion chrysants along with green shamrock chrysants and peach carnations along with thalspi and asparagus fern.

The reception lunch was held at The Double Tree by Hilton on Brayford waterfront

The table centrepieces were in a green pot using the same flowers as the hand ties. Height was added with a steel grass cage.

White Heather reception flowers

Laura’s wedding reception was at The White Heather at Caenby corner in Lincolnshire.

The gorgeous summer blooms were carried into the designs here.

In the entrance we placed a lovely tall bird cage stand which was to collect all the guest’s congratulation cards and decorated this with a spray of flowers. These included, roses, peony, eustoma, veronica, astilbe, sweet peas and lavender creating a scent filled entrance.

A gorgeous summer mix of flowers for a May wedding

Laura decided on a gorgeous summer mix of flowers for her May wedding. I was given a brief on colours and certain flowers that must be included and the rest a mix left to me. We also decided on some scented flowers as it was a traditional church wedding and these would be teamed together with flowers given to the local church flower ladies to decorate with.

The bouquet was a hand tie that had a waterfall trailing effect when carried. It consisted of pale pink garden roses, astilbe, eustoma and peonies, lilac stocks, veronica and eustoma, ivory stocks and sweet peas, and lavender with thalaspi, fern and fountain grass foliage. All tied together with ivvory organza ribbon.

The flower girls carried a silver wire heart filled with gorgeously scented white and ivory sweet pea heads. A small white loop was added to slip over their arm.

The mum’s were each given a small selection of flowers from the brides posy as a corsage. Including a garden rose, sweet peas, lavender and veronica. Tied together with a small satin ribbon bow.

The men all wore a smaller version as a buttonhole tied together with ribbon, in the modern style.

Cerise pink and ivory wedding flowers

Cerise pink gerberas, ivory roses, diamante and salal foliage collar as a brides bouquet

Faye and Phil had a good idea of the flowers they wanted for their wedding last year.

Cerise pink and ivory was the colour scheme and gerberas and roses the chosen flowers. The bride’s bouquet was a mix of the two flowers with added diamante spray detailing and a salal foliage collar to give a little outline and support to the design.

Cleatham Hall

I am so pleased and excited to be part of the team of suppliers at the fabulous new wedding and event venue at Cleatham Hall near Kirton Lindsey, Lincolnshire.

This is a Grade ll listed, Palladian mansion and is set in 10 arcres of ground that are being lovingly planted by the owners.

This grand building could be your wedding venue with sole exclusive use on the day.

The urns are usually planted with seasonal flowers or you can add your own arrangement and these box balls sitting on flower and foliage rings add style to the entrance.

Each stunning room has a license, and each has been lovingly restored, so you can marry in whichever suits your needs best. This however is probably the best use of the space with the gorgeous fireplace easily decorated with a large mantelpiece design.

The ceremony table sits before a large bay window with views across the lawn onto gardens and open fields beyond. All the shutters do open and let plenty of light into the room.

The newly built orangery is light and airy with open views across the garden and a doorway that leads onto the lawn for those wishing to take advantage of the outside space.

The new tables set 10 and with the lovely chiavari chairs you can take your pick on whether to dress them further or not. These were dressed by Chloe at Weddings by Chloe in a beautiful blush colour ruffle hood.

These flower displays are only a guide, the venue suits both tall and low designs depending on your style.

Unfortunately real candles are not allowed but these are artificial battery ones which I can provide and once lit at night they are very life like.

The venue has a few rooms available to you to stay in and get ready and this could be the start of your walk towards your new husband. The stairs have two alcoves that just need filling with flowers.

These can be separate displays or part of your table designs which will be swiftly moved once the ceremony starts.

A gorgeous intimate wedding at Lincoln’s Judge’s Lodgings

Jane and I only spoke at The Bailgate wedding fayre and produced a quick sketch of the layout and confirmed details by email. She was happy to leave the designing to me with colour and main flowers being guided by her.

The ceremony table at The Judge’s Lodgings sits in front of the doors out to the garden and is a lovely space to say your vows.

Jane wanted a design to fill the front of the table in her choice of colours, burgundy and ivory that included roses. To fill ot the design I also added campanula, astilbe and stallion chrysants with a mix of foliage.

In each of the 3 windows we had a pedestal design on a hired white stand in a mix of roses, delphiniums, campanula, carnaions, alstroemeria and chrysants and various foliage. These would be taken into the reception room while the happy couple posed for photos.

In each of the chair sashes Jane asked if I could attach a single ivory rose with a diamante pin in the centre.

In the wedding breakfast room there is this gorgeous ornate side table which was adorned by its own long and low design to match the ceremony table.

The Wedding breakfast table. Everyone was to be seated around one long table and Jane asked for the central space to be filled with flowers. She also liked the candelabra I had at the wedding fayre and so we added two of these to the table design.

The crystal gem chimney candelabras had ivy running up the stand and onto the arms so they blended in with the long design. On each of the four arms hung a single red Naomi rose with a crystal diamante pin hung from differing lengths of crystal beads.

The central flower display was made to match the other long and low designs and were made in separate lengths, each a design in itself as all the flowers were to be given away as gifts to special guests.

The chairs would be brought in from the ceremony room while photos were taken outside.

Ivory corsages for the ladies

Jane met me at The Bailgate wedding fayre and discussed her vision for  flowers at her wedding to be held in the lovely Judges Lodgings.

For the ceremony Jane wanted was to carry a gorgeous drawstring bag and only wanted a very simple flower that would stand out. On my stand I had some fabulous red Naomi roses which were the perfect match for Jane’s colour scheme. This was she decided what she wanted with a small amount of foliage to attach to the bag.

Jane also asked if ALL the ladies at this intimate wedding could be given corsages? All slightly different and some special one’s for the mum’s and witnesses. Below is a selection of what I came up with, in no particular order.

A local church and Marquee wedding

Pedestal arrangement at All Saints Church Ingham

 

Jennifer held her ceremony in the local church of All Saints at Ingham. A gorgeous but small church where we just managed to find room for the two pedestals to frame where the couple would say their vows.

We stuck to the same theme as the bridal bouquets with various roses in pinks and ivory and gypsophila with other seasonal flowers in the same colours.

In the marquee I was asked to provide 6 birdcages to hang from the ceiling of the marquee. This does require some liaising with the marquee company from the beginning and planning as there are only certain points to hang from  and then positioning the tables underneath but the effect is stunning. This way it adds height to your designs but leaves clear vision across the table for your guests.

Jennifer’s wedding last May was a very local affair, getting married in the local church and a marquee reception in the same village.

Her colour scheme was a mix of pinks, green and ivory but wanting to keep to pink and ivory for the flowers. The bridal bouquet was a mix of roses, sweet avalanche, dark pink ‘misty bubbles’ spray rose and avalanche roses. These were given a collar of gypsophila and the larger roses had some twinkle with single diamantes.

The stems were bound with ivory satin ribbon and pinned with more diamante.

The bridesmaids each carried a similar but smaller version with their stems wrapped in material from the bridesmaid dresses.

If you are wanting to match up with the dresses and are having them made ask your seamstress for off cuts to wrap around the flower stems. I don’t need much and it’s lovely to tie all your colours together.
